Save yourself time standing in line and money in your pocket by getting registered online. If you cannot take advantage of online signup, registration will open at the track (Bell Tower) on Monday, March 20th at 7:00am. Gates open Monday at 6:00am sharp.
This is also the third year the AMA Womens Cup have joined the event along with Round 2 of the WMX Pro Series. The AMA Womens Cup race order will be mixed in with the other Spring Championship classes during the entire week while the WMX Pro riders will practice and compete all on Saturday, March 25th.
March 1, 2017 (Wortham, Texas) – In a year of change with the age requirements to race a 250 and 450, many riders on 125’s that are 12 years and up were inadvertently left out of the class names. The James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship and AMA Womens Cup classes now reflect the 2017 updates in the class name and class description.
The classes that do allow 12 and 13 year old include the following:
Womens (12+) Amateur
Schoolboy 2 (12-16)
250 C Jr (12-16)
250 C Limited
250 B Limited
450 C Jr (12-18) Limited
450 B Limited
With 13 days remaining for early registration, another banner year is expected at the Miller Ranch. Texas riders will be up for the challenge with the record number of entries in the 2017 FMF Texas Winter Series and with all the industry coming to Freestone Raceway to support each brand, riders will see first hand how the manufactures support their brand of riders.
Early registration closes at 11pm on Monday, March 13th. If riders miss out on early sign up, registration will open at the track on Monday, March 20th at 7am.
February 7, 2017 (Wortham, Texas) The AMA Womens Motocross Cup was established in 2002 and has continued to evolve with the idea of meeting the desires and needs of the female racers. The Womens Cup was featured at the James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship starting in 2015 and will once again be during the same event. With the industry heads of state coming to this one event in Texas, it was the perfect fit for amateur girls and women racers.
With great input from riders and families, the CollegeGirl (16-24) has been updated to include 250cc 2-strokes. The CollegeGirl class has one of the greatest opportunities to grow into a strong class for the future. December 5, 2016 (Wortham, Texas) – Freestone Raceway is excited to announce that “EARLY REGISTRATION” is now opened for the 7th Annual James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship presented by Parts Unlimited and Thor featuring the AMA Women’s Motocross Cup and WMX Pro’s. The 2017 event is more compact with fewer classes and more competitive racing. Surprise your special racer on Christmas morning with registration papers confirming to your loved one they are headed to Texas in March.
With the focus of growing youth participation, Freestone Raceway is offering new classes in the 65 and 85 divisions. Riders will now be able to compete in the 65cc (7-8) Limited and the 85cc (9-10) Limited. Also returning in 2017 is the youngest of all racers, the 51cc (4-5) Limited and 51cc (6-7) Limited.
Another push Freestone Raceway continues is the AMA Womens Motocross Cup. These classes are as unique as the event itself. Starting with the Girls 65 (7-11), Schoolgirl (14-16), Collegegirl (16-24) and Womens Vet, these classes are set to complement the other regular girls/womens divisions. The Freestone Spring Championship will offer the Girls Jr (9-13), Girls Sr (12-16), Womens (14+) Amateur and WMX Pro.
The JS7 Freestone Spring Championship is one of five events referred to as “the majors”. The season kicks off at the Daytona Amateur Supercross March 12th-13th, then shifts to Freestone Spring Championship. The majors begins to pick up the pace as riders begin to qualify for the AMA Amateur National Championship at Loretta Lynn’s through the area and regional championships. In June, the majors once again come together in the Sierra mountains at Mammoth Mountain. Once summer is about to end, the riders gather in Tennessee for the AMA Amateur National in August. The final gathering is back in the sunshine state in November for the Mini O’s at Gatorback Raceway.
